Hi, my name is Alex and I’m passionate about two things, great design and gardens.
I am driven to change garden landscapes for the better and I do that by creating places and spaces that positively impact the people who use them.
Philosophy – I’m very fortunate that nature has done nearly all of the hard work and all I needed to do is merely weave it all together in a pleasing format.
Not always a garden designer
Having spent most of my career in Design and Marketing, I have a sound understanding of what good design really is and developed a passion for creating inspiring solutions. Similarly, my love of gardening, outdoor spaces and the tranquility they can bring provide me with a strong sense of wellbeing.
Dynamic structures and shapes, balanced with immersive planting can often create the most wonderful of garden environments. Coupled with harmonious lines that work in unison with the house or existing structure.
It makes perfect sense that a nicely designed garden should be a feast for your senses with intoxicating fragrances, different textures and sizes enhanced by a inspiring colour palette.
It’s a personal thing
This may well be my design, but it’s your garden, your happy place…an area for contemplation, inspiration and peace. A place to relax after a long day at work or a fun place to play and build memories with your family.
Whatever the role your new garden needs to fulfil in your life, it will be designed and developed with pride, care and passion.
Why do you need a garden designer?

Modest or grand, I can bring your vision to life
Planning some new borders? Reimagining your large country garden for spring? I can support with any scale of project and bring something new to your vision.

Helps save costs and problems later down the line
A clear and detailed garden plan helps everyone involved to deliver on time, on budget and to the standard you are planning for.

It can be less pricey than you might think
I’m always happy to discuss and help clients with their budget allocation and maximise any opportunities and resources I can to achieve their vision.

Get the outcome you’re wishing for, first time
Your garden’s a place to relax and enjoy yourself – a garden designer can make sure you get it just the way you want it, without all the trial and error of trying to design it yourself.
What my clients say about me

Mr & Mrs Sinclair, St Martins
Excellent job in re-designing and planting…
“Aside from doing an excellent job in re-designing and planting a north facing series of flower beds, Alex has also come up with a stunning design to rework an existing tired old pond. He’s incorporated three waterfall runs, rather than one, back into the pond below, and done so through a backdrop of natural rocks. The cascading water lights up with with waterproof lighting, which beautifully enhances the pond at night, and it’s all been finished off with a lovely water-based planting scheme. All pumps, filters, lighting, timers, and electronics have been neatly housed in a bespoke discreet cabinet. Stunning!”

Mr M Bailey, St. Lawrence
Exactly what I was looking for…
“I first met Alex when he was the Outdoor Plant Manager at Ransoms Garden Centre and found him to be very helpful and offered professional advice freely. Since then we have worked together landscaping my 5 acre garden in St. Lawrence. The Italian renaissance design drawings that Alex has provided have been exactly what I was looking for, complete with miles of low level hedging, a maze, seasonal borders, gate house, formal gardens and much more. I have found his knowledge of plants and how to use them invaluable.
I would certainly recommend Alex to anyone who has a need for an excellence garden designer capable of handling medium to large scale landscaping projects like ours.”

Mr & Mrs Sheppard, St. Peters
